Oval Face.
The ideal face shape. Widest at the temple and forehead, tapering down to a curved chin. The overall balance and symmetry of this face shape lets you keep makeup basic. Apply contour or blush to the apples of cheek.
Rectangle Face.
Long and narrow, cheekbones project and apples of cheek hide underneath. Add contour to outer areas of the face (forehead and outer jawline) to create width across the cheekbone line, making the face appear shorter and wider. Apply hughlight, then blush right above contour on cheeks.
Inverted Triangle Face.
Wide at the temple and forehead area, forming a triangle that tapers down. Contour from outer forehead area down to temples to create a more balanced look. Apply blush and highlight to the apples of cheek.
Heart Face.
Small, pointed chin and narrow jawline with a wide forehead. Soft and somewhat stands out in the cheekbone area. Contour the outer bottom half of both sides of the forehead and cheekbones to emphasize blush. Add highlight underneath the eyes and chin.
Pear Face.
Widest at its base or jawline, tapering up and becoming more narrow as you go up from cheeks to forehead. Bring out the sides of the face by blending lighter foundation and highlight through the cheeks and under the eyes. Apply darker shade of foundation below cheekbones, along jawline and blend into neck for balance.
Square Face.
Straight face with wide, angular jawline and forehead that are the same size. Frame the face with darker foundation on temple and jaw area. Highlight forehead, under eyes and chin. Emphasize apples of the cheeks with much blush.
Round Face.
Youthful looking and widest at the cheeks. Face is as long as it is wide with soft rounded jaw, short chin and rounded hairline. Blend darker foundation on the outer edges of temples, cheekbones and jawline. Blend lighter foundation from center of forehead down center of face to tip of chin and highlight under eyes to add length to face.
Diamond Face.
Widest at cheekbones with a narrow chin and forehead. Jaw size and hairline are exactly the same. Apply lighter foundation along hairline and blend onto forehead to dimension. Lightly contour jawline.

Choosing shades
